What is GMAT?

The GMAT or The Graduate Management Admission Test is a popular computer adaptive test that is aimed to assess a person's analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal, and reading skills in written English for use in admission to a graduate management program. For nearly 60 years, the GMAT score has been accepted by more than 6000 business schools and management programs worldwide.

It is a popular test of choice by a lot of the world's business leaders to get into the top B-School as the GMAT measures the skills you have and the skills schools need. Additionally, GMAT's unique integrated reasoning section allows the MBA aspirant to Showcase the skills that matter most to schools and businesses

The exam is 3 and a half hours, entirely computer-based and is scored on a maximum of 800 and the 4 sections of GMAT are- Verbal, Quantitative, Integrated Reasoning and Analytical Writing Assessment.

What is the Scoring Scale for GMAT?

Official GMAT score report consists of five parts

  1. The total score can range between 200-800 points.
  2. Verbal scaled score range from 6-51 points.
  3. Quantitative scores range from 6-51.
  4. AWA section(Analytical Writing Assessment) scores range from 0-6 in 0.5-point.
  5. The IR Section/ Integrated reasoning ranges from 1-8 points.

Anybody can take the GMAT exam irrespective of their educational qualification.

What is the registration fee for the GMAT exam?

The cost of the registration fee for the GMAT exam is USD 250.

How do I register for the GMAT?

You can register online or by phone or by mail. The detailed information about registering for the GMAT can be found at www.mba.com

How often can I take the GMAT exam?

You can take the GMAT exam unlimited times with a gap of 16 calendar days. However in a year you can take the exam only 5 times

What is the validity of the GMAT exam?

5 years from the date the test was taken.

When will I get my score?

You will receive the official scores (with scores for the AWA section) in 20 days. However, You will get your scores for the maths, verbal and IR sections the moment you finish the exam.

Can I reschedule my exam?

Yes, you can.

What happens if I reschedule my exam date?

If you reschedule 60 days prior to your exam, you would need to pay a rescheduling fee of USD 50.
However, if you reschedule 14 days or less before your date of exam, you would need to pay USD 150.

What happens if I cancel my exam date?

If you cancel more than 60 days before your exam date, you will get a refund of $100.
If you do the same 14 days or less before your exam, you will be refunded only $50.
There won't be any refund if you cancel 24 hours or less before the exam.

What happens if I want to cancel the GMAT test score & when can I reinstate the score?

You can cancel your score either immediately after the GMAT exam or within 72 hours of the exam.
If the score is cancelled immediately after the exam at the test centre, then there is no cancellation fee.
If the score is cancelled after the exam within 72 hours, there is a cancellation fee of $25. Cancelled scores can be reinstated and the reinstatement fee is $50.

Can I apply to universities if I do not have the AWA score?

Yes, you can apply to the universities based on your provisional scorecard that you receive on the day of the test. Given the university suspends the requirement and as long as you can send the official score once it is out.
